An era with political issues and hidden wars needs a balance.This balance is offered by arts,especially music.Because there is no similarity between people's personalities,also in music are different genres,such as rock,dance,rap,hip-hop and others.There are a lot of artists in every sub-branch of music and it is hard for each one to make himself famous.
One of those who has succeeded in this industry is Lil Mama. Her real name is Niatia Jessica Kirkland and she is an American rapper,born in Harlem,on the 4th of October,1989.She was released with the help of Jive Records.The first contact with this branch was in 2006,when producers like Scott Storch,The Runners,,Dr. Lucke and Cool&Dre accepted to work with this young and promising artist.
After a hard work and a several concerts in USA,her first song brings her to 2007 MTV Video Music Awards,when she was nominated for Monster Single of the year.The song was called "Lip gloss" and,clearly,it was her breakout hit.At that time, she was only 17 years old.An early age,an age when other teenager falls in love and her primary occupation is fashion, Lil Mama,was releasing her debut album,titled "Voice of the young people",which contained "Lip gloss".
The album's "star" song was produced by James Grove and it was radio listeners's favorite(still is). The song's lyrics remind of high school period,when as a teenager she wanted to impress boys and the way to do that was by the "power" of her glossy lips. 'My lip gloss is cool" she says because it is "poppin".Listening to this song, makes you happier and you may refeel the emotions of your first love and the pride of conquest it,all memories (or not if you are younger) from high school.
In the song,she express her choice in using lip gloss,that's why names as L'oreal or Mac appear .And because Natia has a strong personality,she stands up proudly and says ....how much she adores flavours as cherry,vanilla and melon. Although it is an "easy" song,it had a "heavy" impact ,when it peaked at 10 on Billboard Hot 100 and was on the 56-th place on Rolling Stone's list of the Best Songs of 2007.If "Lip gloss" was the beginnig,lately, she was judge on America's Best Dance Crew on MTV.As any celebrity,she had some problems that made mass-media to criticize her,for example the incident during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards,when she disturbed the live perfomance of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
But this little inconvenient didn't stop her to became the winner of Choice Rap/Hip-Hop Track:"Shawty Get Loose" in 2008 and Choice Summer Song:"Lip gloss" in 2007.both on Tenn Choice Awards.Also,she was nominated twice on BET Awards,once on MTV Video Music Awards ,for five times on Teen Choice Awards and once on MTV Asia Awards.And all of this makes her an international artist and gets our blessing because we enjoy her "Lip gloss".
